Killer B Guitars

I met Kevin Butts of Killer B guitars a couple of years back through the Gear Talk: Memphis page. He’s a luthier located just outside of Memphis, Tn building some fine instruments. He contacted me about may be reviewing and demoing one of his guitars before it got shipped off to a studio. Obviously I accepted and here we are.

I’m glad he gave me a guitar similar to Continue reading “Killer B Guitars”

Iron Age Guitar Picks

Almost a year ago I purchased some picks on a whim. This may not sound like anything too out of the norm for a guitar player, but these aren’t your normal picks. At the time Iron Age only made picks from Exotic woods and metal. Since then they’ve clearly been doing well and expanded to picks made of bone, horn, stone, carbon fiber, and standard picks.

I picked up the Rocker Combo Set Continue reading “Iron Age Guitar Picks”

Tube Screamers (Review-ish thing)

A few years ago I finally broke down and decided to pickup a Tube Screamer. I picked up the roughest looking 808 I could find off of ebay at the time and patiently waited. When it arrived,  I immediately plugged it in and was fairly impressed. Like some musicians
I had been avoiding giving into buying into whatever hype was around Tube Screamers. Even though I think at the time I still had my JHS Morning Glory that, of course, I bought be cause of hype…. I cant answer for what 21 year old me did… I still question Continue reading “Tube Screamers (Review-ish thing)”

Donner Yellow Fall Delay

I must say I was actually pleasantly surprised with this little guy. I mainly bought it as a gag gift to myself since one of my favorite video game series is Fallout and Fallout 4 had been out for a month or two. I told myself if it sucked it’d at least make a nice addition to my Fallout collection. BTW, My wife judged me on my reasoning for buying it. And for getting a blue knob to add to the effect… Like I said, gag gift.

Anyway, before I ordered, I figured this would be a crap pedal and would probably just sit on my board until I got a Memory Man or the Chase Bliss Tonal Recall came out and didn’t get my hopes up. When it came Continue reading “Donner Yellow Fall Delay”

My Nose Pedals Experience…

I had been debating on not posting this topic so I could keep a bad review off my site for as long as I could but I felt I needed to make people aware. I placed an order for a multi tap tempo switch on January 13th. The site stated that in stock items shipped withing 4 days and customs with in 7-10 days. I wasn’t sure which this fell under so I figured it would be about two weeks. Two weeks went by Continue reading “My Nose Pedals Experience…”

I don’t really have a halfway interesting backstory for this one…. So this will be more of a “how I use it” and over all opinion. All in all, I really just needed something that wasn’t a Tubescreamer. Plain and simple. I had two TS9s on my board and they kind of compressed each other out. So far The Archer has seemed to fix that. My gain section goes Boost > ’84 TS9 > Archer. I use the Archer as

Matthews Effects Astronomer

After a few months of not having a reverb, the Matthews Effects Astronomer was a welcomed addition when the owner, Rick, first announced it late last year. Even if you weren’t wondering why I didn’t have a reverb on my board, I’m going to tell you any way… I simply couldn’t find one that I liked and met my needs Continue reading “Matthews Effects Astronomer”

Strymon DIG Dual Delay

As a recent Strymon convert, let me start off saying for the LONGEST I had the mind set of many others of “avoiding Strymon because of the hype.” (sorry Strymon guys if you read this for “old me” being like that…) Also, to be honest, they’re expensive for effects pedals.

So now let me try to convince you other wise. Let’s take the subject of delays for this with a backstory of my personal history of delays: Continue reading “Strymon DIG Dual Delay”
