The last few weeks have been an interesting one for me. I started listening to a band I used to hate, found a local band that really impressed me, and finally got around to getting to see a friend of ours band and her music out side of church. I figure this would be a better format than a review. I’ve included links to the artists pages but If you would like in the future to include Spotify or YouTube playlist links be sure to let me know. This will probably be an Evolving endeavor.

Paramore: I’m really not sure what happened with this one. For whatever reason, “The Only Exception” rubbed me the wrong way when it first came out in 2009. Maybe it was just over played? Who knows. Regardless it caused me to write off Paramore for nearly 7 years. literally within the last few weeks I’ve started listening to them more and more. But they’re still a little out of my normal listening style. Which is fine.

Laramie: Ambient Rock would be the best way I could describe it. For whatever reason it gives me a more recent Robert Plant vibe for whatever reason. The lead singers voice reminds me of Amy Lee of Evanescence just not in a Hard Rock setting. I think if you like one or all three of those things, you should give them a listen. Even if you don’t, they are unique enough that I still say you should give them a listen.

VAS: The first time I hear or even heard of VAS was when Laramie played for their album release this month. I’ll be honest. I wasn’t sure what to expect but was immediately blown away by the first song of their set. The closest thing I can compare them to is Fun. Even that’s a stretch because they feel like such a good mix styles.

Aside from the random U2, This has pretty much been my playlist the last week or so. If you have music you’d like us to check out and maybe talk about, email us at gondorianguitarist@gmail.com or message us on any of our social media.
